2 volunteer firefighters killed in tanker rollover crash while responding to emergency call

GOLDSBY, Okla. (KSWO/Gray News) – Residents in an Oklahoma town are mourning two volunteer firefighters who were killed when their truck rolled over while responding to a call.

The crash involving a Goldsby Fire Department tanker truck happened after 3 a.m. Friday near East Redbud Road and Southeast 12th Avenue, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Authorities said the truck was responding to a structure fire when it went off the road. The driver overcorrected and the tanker rolled, hitting two large trees.

Todd Pendleton, 62, and Bryan Jenkins, 64, died at the scene.

The town of Goldsby said Pendleton was a firefighter for 12 years and Jenkins was a veteran of the fire department for 35 years.

“These firefighters have spent their lives in the service of their community. They served alongside their family, friends and neighbors,” the town of Goldsby shared online.
