Gov. Hochul, NY Democrats launch major attack ad on Trump, Blakeman

NEW YORK (PIX11) — The first shot has crossed the bow.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and the State Democratic Party are launching a multimillion-dollar broadside attack on her likely GOP opponent in November, Bruce Blakeman.

Blakeman is the current Republican Nassau County Executive.

The ad draws a line between Blakeman and President Donald Trump, accusing the County executive of being a “suck-up.” It links Blakeman to Trump’s tariffs and says New Yorkers are paying the price for the policy.

The ad concludes with, “He’ll only fight for Trump.”

The launch of the major attack ad, still more than seven months until Election Day, signals a bitter battle in local and midterm elections– one that Democrats hope to make a referendum on President Trump’s impact on affordability.

Blakeman responded to the attack: “For four years, New Yorkers have been told to ‘suck up’ higher taxes, rising utility bills, soaring insurance costs, and skyrocketing rent under Kathy Hochul. It’s no surprise she’s resorting to attacks instead of answering for the affordability crisis created on her watch.”
